How To Add Data

The Add Data page allows you to upload data before building your job. It is the first page you will see after clicking the Create Job button on your CrowdFlower Jobs Dashboard.

There are 2 ways to add data to your job:

Fig. 1: Data Upload options

Data File

Upload a data file

To upload a data file, click the Upload File button and select a file to upload. After selecting the file, the data will upload to your job and be visible in the data tab.

What kind of formats are acceptable?

You must use an UTF-8 encoded .CSV file when uploading data to CrowdFlower. .TSV, .XLSX, and .ODS file formats are also acceptable and require UTF-8 encoding. All data files should have a column header for each column.

If the "Upload File" button does not present an option to choose a file from your computer, please click the "Use alternate upload page" for an another version of our data upload page.

Import Tweets from Twitter

Search Twitter

On the Add Data page, you have the option to pull data into your job from Twitter. Type in a search term in the box provided, then "Import Tweets". The data will then be automatically loaded into your job.

If you do not need to upload data to your job, or would like to upload data at a different time, you can select the "Create a survey" option below the two main data upload options.

Start a job without data

For surveys, or to skip the uploading phase and upload data at a later step, click the "Create a survey" button. By default, one blank unit will appear in your dataset if you choose "Create a survey".
